AMD Silently Launches Radeon AI PRO 9700S And R9600D With Fanless Design
Recently, AMD has quietly launched two new workstation GPUs: the Radeon AI PRO 9700S and the Radeon AI PRO 9600D. These cards feature fanless designs, which are designed for completely quiet operation and efficient cooling.
The Radeon AI PRO 9700S is the higher-end model, featuring 4096 stream processors, a boost clock of up to 2920 MHz, and a total memory bandwidth of 300W TDP. It also includes 32GB of GDDR6 memory with a 256-bit memory bus.
On the other hand, the Radeon AI PRO 9600D is a more budget-friendly option in the workstation segment. It has fewer stream processors at 3072, a lower boost clock of 2480 MHz, and a TDP rating of 150W. Despite these differences, both GPUs share the same 32GB GDDR6 memory configuration.
The main noticeable difference between the two cards is their cooling system. Both GPUs use a passive cooling solution, ensuring silent operation. However, the Radeon AI PRO 9700S has a slightly thicker design at 2 slots compared to the R9600D's 1.5 slot layout.
In terms of compute performance, both GPUs offer similar capabilities. The Radeon AI PRO 9700S and R9600D both deliver 478 TFLOPS of FP32 performance, ensuring efficient processing for demanding workloads.
The Radeon AI PRO 9600D is particularly appealing for users who need a cost-effective solution for general workstation tasks. Its lower power consumption and compact design make it suitable for those looking to optimize their systems without compromising on performance.
AMD has yet to provide specific release dates or pricing information for these new GPUs. As such, we'll have to wait for more details in the coming days.

Both GPUs are variants of the Radeon AI PRO 9700, which was released a few months ago. The R9600D uses a cut-down NAVI 48 GPU with only 3072 stream processors compared to the R9700S's full 4096 SPs.
Thankfully, the memory configuration remains retailed with 32GB GDDR6 at 1200 MHz, which is a significant amount for workstation-grade cards.
