The Legacy of God of War

Over two decades ago in March 2005, God of War launched on the PlayStation 2, initiating Kratos’ journey through ancient Greece and beyond. As the 20th anniversary year nears its end in March 2026, announcements mark this milestone.

Original Trilogy Remake Announcement

The original God of War trilogy is under remake, announced with TC Carson, the voice of Kratos from the Greek era. The project remains in early development, with further updates promised later.

God of War Sons of Sparta Overview

God of War Sons of Sparta, developed by Mega Cat Studios, is a 2D action platformer with a canon story set during Kratos’ youth at the Agoge training alongside his brother Deimos. The narrative, crafted by the Santa Monica Studio team behind God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök, explores duty, honor, and brotherhood. TC Carson returns as the adult Kratos narrator, his first role in over a decade.

Gameplay Features

Kratos employs spear and shield combat, augmented by divine artifacts called Gifts of Olympus against diverse foes. Iconic elements from the series appear in 2D hand-drawn pixel animation, alongside new Greek mythology-inspired creatures by Mega Cat Studios.
