Google’s Gemini App Surpasses 750 Million Monthly Active Users
Rapid User Growth and Market Position
Google’s AI chatbot, Gemini, has exceeded 750 million monthly active users (MAUs), according to data released in the company’s fourth-quarter 2025 earnings report. This figure marks an increase from the 650 million MAUs reported in the previous quarter, indicating continued consumer adoption in the AI sector. In the current competitive landscape, Gemini places ahead of Meta AI, which reported nearly 500 million monthly users, but remains behind ChatGPT, which was estimated to have approximately 810 million MAUs in late 2025.
Impact of Gemini 3 and New Subscription Plans
The growth in user numbers follows the launch of Gemini 3, which Google describes as its most advanced model, offering responses with increased depth and nuance. CEO Sundar Pichai identified the introduction of Gemini 3 as a positive driver for the company's recent performance. To further broaden its user base, Google recently introduced the Google AI Plus plan, a subscription tier priced at $7.99 per month aimed at budget-conscious consumers. Philipp Schindler, Google’s chief business officer, noted that the company is observing growth across both its free tier and subscription offerings, though the new plan launched too recently to impact the fourth-quarter statistics.
Financial Milestones and Infrastructure Investments
Alphabet reported surpassing $400 billion in annual revenue for the first time during this quarter, a milestone attributed largely to the expansion of its AI division. Operational metrics reveal that Google's first-party models, including Gemini, now process over 10 billion tokens per minute via direct API use. Supporting this infrastructure is the introduction of Ironwood, the latest generation of Google's TPU AI accelerator chip, designed to compete with Nvidia. Pichai stated that search usage has seen increased activity and that continued investment is planned to maintain the division's momentum.
