Halo Combat Evolved Remake Confirmed by Halo Studios

For almost 30 years, Halo has revolutionised the first-person shooter genre with its iconic space opera and military-driven narrative. As a cornerstone of the Xbox series, it has become a household name among fans, many of whom have played through its campaigns multiple times over. But all began with one of the original Xbox launch titles: 2001's Halo: Combat Evolved. Now, at the Halo World Championships, the team at Halo Studios revealed that what has been endlessly leaked is indeed true—Halo Campaign Evolved Remake is in development and set to release in 2026.

The trailer shown above offers a glimpse of some impressive gameplay featuring fan-favorite moments. The game, called Halo: Campaign Evolved, brings back the original 2001 title and is confirmed to include only the campaign mode, omitting multiplayer. It will also launch on the PlayStation 5 first, marking a significant milestone for the series. Crossplay across all consoles is supported, allowing players to team up or compete in split-screen mode.

During a development video, the team mentioned that new content like interactions and scenes will be added, enhancing the experience. This remake has been rumored for a while after leaks from Halo Studio's last year suggested an in-development campaign-only version of the classic game. Luckily, they can now put those rumors to rest as the title is reborn for the next generation of consoles including PS5 .
