Keysight Technologies has announced its acquisition of Spirent Communications, a significant move in the technology industry. The deal, valued at approximately £116 billion, aims to expand Keysight's portfolio with Spirent's expertise in satellite emulation and network automation.

The acquisition was formally announced on October 17, with Spirent's shares set to be delisted from the London Stock Exchange on the same day. This move follows regulatory approvals from bodies like the US Department of Justice, UK Competition and Markets Authority, and agencies in France, Germany, and China.

Keysight plans to integrate Spirent's capabilities into its Communications Solutions Group, enabling customers to transition smoothly from design to deployment with enhanced testing and assurance. This integration will provide more comprehensive lifecycle support, including monitoring and analytics.

The acquisition also includes commitments to divest certain high-speed Ethernet network security and channel emulation businesses by the end of yesterday. This strategic move positions Keysight for growth in sectors like aerospace defense, industrial automation, and general electronics.

Keysight's President and CEO Satish Dhanasekaran highlighted the benefits of combining Keysight's design emulation and test expertise with Spirent's strengths in satellite positioning and network automation. This collaboration is expected to enhance the company's offerings in 6G development and non-terrestrial networks.

The transaction underscores Keysight's commitment to innovation and delivering end-to-end solutions across various industries. By leveraging Spirent's advanced technologies, Keysight is well-positioned to meet the evolving demands of 5G and IoT applications.
