Overwatch Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 Release in Spring 2026
Switch 2 Version Announcement
The development team officially announced that Overwatch is heading to the Nintendo Switch 2 in Spring 2026. This revelation was made during the Overwatch Spotlight presentation on Thursday, February 4, 2026. While the game was previously released on the original Nintendo Switch and remains playable on the successor console, a dedicated Switch 2 release implies that the title will feature upgrades and optimizations utilized by the new hardware. As of now, no specific release date has been provided for the Overwatch: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition other than the Spring 2026 window.
Reverting the Name and New Story Arc
In addition to the platform news, it was announced that the game, which was rebranded as Overwatch 2 in 2022, will revert to its original title of Overwatch. The showcase also detailed a new year-long story arc titled The Reign of Talon. This six-season storyline is set to introduce five new heroes, along with new in-game events and additional content. A subsequent narrative arc is scheduled to commence in early 2027 following the conclusion of the Reign of Talon.
